Here’s the one thing I didn’t see you doing. In your neighborhood there must be an online website called Nextdoor. Every day people in that neighborhood people post what’s going on plus requests for everything from landscapers, recommendations from their neighbors for babysitters, contractors, hairdressers and on and on. Now the catch is the higher end neighborhood you can join, the higher end projects are posted . I recommend you start in the actual neighborhood you live. Then if you have a relative living in a better area, ask if you can use their address as yours. Not sure its completely ‘legal’, but it’s not illegal.

I started my business in 1978 because I saw the need for change in my industry. For years people hired designers to create a recognizable look that indicated a particular designer’s style. Status Symbol.
I could feel the trend was heading for designers to create a fresh and completely custom look that represented the client’s needs and Personality . I could do that, so I hired a bookkeeper and another designer and we were off.
It never crossed my mind that I would fail. Wasn’t in my DNA.
