There are so many options that are available to families and it is our job to explain or inform them of what those options may be. Most options are legal however there are some things that are illegal to do concerning and end of life option.

One of our favorite success stories: We received a phone call from the wife of her husband who was in critical condition at the rest home where he was a resident. She requested to come to our funeral home, along with her two grown children, to discuss possible funeral arrangements. Of course we granted her request and she and her two children came in and we sat down to discuss all the choices and requests in providing funeral services for her husband and her children's father. We all sat together in an informal type setting discussing all the concerns that they had about making funeral arrangements. During our discussion she indicated that her family had in the past always used a competitor of ours in the same community. We did not say anything derogatory about the other firm, instead we explained our believes about how that all services should be handled with expediency, honor, integrity, respect and at a guaranteed best value. As this was just a discussion they did not want to make a "prearrangement" at this time. So we provided her with our General Price List (which is a requirement by the FTC) along with prices of our caskets and vaults that we show in our display room. Several days went by and we did not hear anymore from this family. Well, one night along about 10:00 pm, we received a phone call from the rest home and they indicated that the husband and father of this family we had talked to had requested our services. We immediately went to the rest home to make the removal of the deceased and to do our best in comforting this family that we had talked to. In our discussion it was brought to our attention by one of the employees of the rest home that the family had originally requested the other funeral home to be utilized. We were told that the other funeral home had been contacted, however it had been more than two hours before anyone from that funeral home had made their way to the rest home. We were told that the person who came was met at the door by one of the family members and told them that they, as a family, had changed their mind and sent them away. The family then requested us to come and make the removal because they remembered what we had told them during our previous meeting which was: "we believe that all services should be handled with expediency, honor, integrity, respect and at a guaranteed best value". They remembered the word "expediency" so after waiting two hours on the other funeral provider they (the wife and children) requested our services. And we received a VERY GRACIOUS THANKS from this family after we had provided all the services that they had requested and expected.
