The goal of SPARK is “Teach One Help One Leave No One Behind.” It is widely believed that intervention is a major component of preventing further criminal behavior. If SPARK grabs these kids as they first enter the criminal justice system, we believe those that finish the program will be less likely to be lifelong criminals. It is also a hope that this organization encourages others intervene, as well. Thus no one will be left behind.
Carolyn Jackson founded Skills Provided for At Risk Kids (SPARK) in 2007. Ms. Jackson has worked for Cook County Sheriff department as a Deputy Sheriff for over 20 years. She has experience working with both Juveniles and adult offenders in the Cook County Correctional System. SPARK is an organization, that recognizes the problem and the solutions concerning at risk youth. Troubled youth need positive guidance and reinforcement, and a change of scenery can only help. SPARK is equipped with a thoughtful and supportive staff, as well as great volunteers to help this process along. SPARK is not only constructive, but encouraging to a community that is thirsting for both.
