Sorry to hear you're going through this.  Situations like this happen when  communications are not there between the insured/ Representative and the agency/Ins carrier. Its important that insured's communicate & /or respond to request for policy review as circumstance change which can impact policy &/or payment of claims.  Being the payor on a policy is not enough to ensure the policy is properly set up to avoid situations like this.  Continue to work with Insurance Co and you may have to deposit the check as the Admin of the estate so repairs can be made and definitely get the policy updated for the future.
