The best way to prevent data loss is to have a regular backup policy in place. It really depends on the type of consulting you do. If I'm designing a data network, I'll bid it by the project based on how long I think it will take in actual working hours. If I'm helping a start-up with getting a facility open, I'll bid a flat fee plus an hourly rate for extra visits/... (more) It really depends on the type of consulting you do. If I'm designing a data network, I'll bid it by the project based on how long I think it will take in actual working hours. If I'm helping a start-up with getting a facility open, I'll bid a flat fee plus an hourly rate for extra visits/ phone calls, etc that are outside the normal scope.
