Zach’s Toy Chest is a North Carolina–based nonprofit dedicated to bringing joy, comfort, and a sense of normalcy to children facing cancer and other serious medical conditions.
We partner directly with pediatric hospitals and clinics across the state to deliver brand-new toys, games, comfort items, and handwritten Courage Cards to patients ages 0–21. These items are used during inpatient stays, outpatient treatments, procedures, and milestone moments - helping reduce anxiety, provide distraction, and remind kids that they are still kids first.
What began as one family’s response to a long medical journey has grown into a volunteer-driven organization serving thousands of children each year. Everything we do is powered by community - individuals, schools, businesses, and campus groups like yours who choose to show up with kindness.
Because healing isn’t just medical - it’s emotional too. And sometimes, a simple card can make a very hard day a little brighter.
Zach’s Toy Chest began in a hospital hallway.
After walking through years of medical appointments, treatments, and long hospital stays with our own child, we learned something powerful: healing isn’t only about medicine. It’s also about comfort. About distraction. About reminding a child that they are still a kid, even in the middle of something incredibly hard.
What started as one family wanting to give back has grown into a North Carolina nonprofit serving thousands of children each year. We now partner directly with pediatric hospitals and clinics across the state to deliver brand-new toys, games, comfort items, and handwritten Courage Cards to patients ages 0–21 during inpatient stays, outpatient treatments, procedures, and milestone moments.
Every toy placed into a child’s hands represents a community standing behind them. Our work is powered by local businesses, schools, volunteers, and corporate partners who choose to turn compassion into action.
