How We Got Started

A Family Affair: Lahaska “born”and bred brother/sister duo Richard and Christine Aust-Morales spent their teenage years working in the food industry at the various restaurants at Peddler’s Village in Lahaska.

Richard fell in love with the restaurant world, graduated from the culinary program at Bucks County Community College and went on to work as a chef for the next 20 years. Christine took a different path and made a career in HR Management in New York City before becoming a real estate agent locally.

“Food has always been an important part of my family,” explained Christine. “I wanted to build something meaningful that included my brother and my husband (Ted Morales) that combined all of our talents.”

Sure not every review gets considered approved, even if they are customers.  (WE KNOW!) But open up the messaging option, and reply to those who are asking more about your services.  Put up a few photos about you, your services and yes, take 5 minutes out and put your best profile pitch out there.  Folks take a lot of time researching online first, before they EVER make that call to you.  Don't let them down.

She liked it. We got down to work and developed our mutual business relationship and trust. She regularly orders from us to this day. It has been four years. We truly appreciate her and our top referrals, earning mega points in rewards, special events, food - even free catering for kids' teachers, showers, graduations, parties.   We trust in the relationship we have built with our top clients and our referrals.  Never goes unnoticed. Once you’ve established some good contacts work with aspects of all businesses that would work with your venue to include meeting planners, caterers, DJs and entertainers, wedding planners, rental companies. Work with a PR firm to promote host one evening to invite everyone. Perhaps have several catering companies set up a food booth two six-foot tables featuring some of their favorite foods. Invite your local newspapers and any local Happening publications. Reach out to your tourism board and chamber of commerce locally. Invite them to the evening. Invite your local politicians to the evening. You would have an open house so to speak. Then get the word out with PR Although this may not be the absolute easiest way to do it. It can be very effective. You’re reaching out with in your business sphere- these are the people that you would work with for venues. Plus many of them already know each other so they will be in a comfortable situation. Great way to introduce your venue. Have everyone get this out on social media - tweet and facebook about your event. Another way to get the word out on your venue is to host a free evening to a local veteran -Provide for free or at a steep discount - Perhaps someone who is getting married. Again hire PR. Run a contest or campaign as to why a veteran couple deserve the venue for their wedding- create that buzz! PR! As caterers, we would be ecstatic to be invited to a new venue that would be in our local area and I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to set up a booth and showcase some of our best food. Even though we do not do many weddings, we would jump at the chance to work with the new venue!

Of course - this doesn't depend on the type of service we perform - like a full service catering setup to a simple Morning breakfast drop off: we like to give the best customer service to our client at all times. I find that a simple phone call or follow up email works well to get the immediate survey response and feedback on the event. Also when we do a full breakdown, we spend a few extra moments to speak with the attendants and the event planner to make sure that everything went as planned that the food was enjoyed by all and also to learn how to improve. It's also best to follow up with a personal handwritten thank you card within a week of the event. We have ha many compliments from those receiving food as B2B thank you lunch. Many say food is memorable and really shows gratitude.
