It's important for a business to have its at least ad-hoc advisors - attorney and CPA. But groups like ours, Terrebonne Economic Development Authority, offer usually free (in our case) or low-cost guidance, advice and access to resources on most business topics that all companies should explore.  (more) It's important for a business to have its at least ad-hoc advisors - attorney and CPA. I also do suggest being active with your local gallery if you are comfortable with the commission rate, but don't forget your local art association and its exhibit opportunities. In Houma, LA, we have a membership art group that works to promote local artists -- but all artists must work to heighten awareness of local art availability to help promote the original art community rather than the mass-produced options available at traditional retailers; education of the general populace is important and social media is the path of the day, but don't ignore traditional media outlets. And if your art is worthy of a high sales price, strongly consider making some prints that are then affordable for the average household (potentially expanding your market).

It's all about building a relationship of trust, which leads to greater business opportunities. People want to feel important, valued. Networking allows you to build relationships, earn someone's trust, make them feel valuable and opens doors.
