About Us

My name is Pat Guard and I have been a professional photographer for more than 45 years. I first used a film SLR camera at the age of 6 (it was a Leica with a Zeiss lens) and have been fascinated by photography ever since! I did my Master's work in Photography at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX and have been in business in Kingwood, TX for over 35 years.

I have photographed everyone from newborns in Kingwood to weddings in Europe. I have photographed everything from jewelry to food to skyscrapers for companies as small as a one man operation to as big as Coca Cola and Club Corporation of America. I love everything to do with photography and hope this comes across in the work.

How We Got Started

My dad was a photographer and I worked in his darkroom with my mom when I was only 6 years old. I started working as a photographer for a state magazine at 14 and took over the entire graphics department of a large publishing company when I was 18. I love Photography. I love to teach and share Photography, too.

I received my Masters degree over 30 years ago. I have been very careful over the years to stay in contact with my customer base. I have over 7000 people in my email data base and I send out emails at least monthly. I also sell space on my eblast to commercial customers of mine who are interested in reaching my audience. I use Constant Contact for this service. I also use Send Out cards to send targeted direct mail to my customers on birthdays and anniversaries. About 25 years ago, I also started a publication that has grown exponentially. It is now a 48 page magazine that is mailed to over 40,000 homes. That might be a bit much for most people to take on, but a newsletter is always a good way to start. Contact a few of your commercial clients and add a few small ads from them to help pay for the project. Be selective of your mailing area. We target homes with incomes starting at $80,000 a year. The post office can help you with a list. In regards to boudoir photography, I think one of the best ways to market that is by word of mouth. Sometimes print or internet marketing can bring you clients that you don't want, I joined several women's groups (check out the American Business Women Association in your area). That allows me to be selective about my clientele and I stay extremely busy. Good luck. Contact me if you have any further questions. I am happy to help. www.patandray.com www.forestimage.com

Facebook is a great way to connect with families and to show off your work. I also use LinkedIn to connect with business clients as I do a lot a commercial work and teaching. I send out an eblast through Constant Contact every month, too, to keep my clients up on what is going on at my studio.
