Raising the federal minimum wage to $15 and doing away with the “tip credit” will have a dramatic impact on the restaurant industry. It will lead to the loss of tens of thousands of jobs for currently “tipped” employees, a rise in prices at every restaurant.  Not only will we have to pay every employee $15 an hour but the employees currently making $15 or more an hour will require an increase in their wages. A cook that has be working years for his current employer will demand a substantial increase because it would not be fair to have a new employee start at an entry level position getting paid the same rate......  You will def see more and more chains and independent restaurants shift towards automation and rely less and individual waitstaff.
