About Us

Christian Women's Job Corps is a program designed to help women move toward self-sufficiency. We provide free classes in soft skills as well as practical classes in computer and career readiness. We also offer a volunteer internship program for some of our students, GED instruction, a mentor relationship, a career clothes closet, scholarships for higher education or technical training for graduates, and we donate used computers to our graduates. Students benefit from the tools that we provide for them to further their education or begin a new career.

How We Got Started

Our organization began as a means to help women in the Madison County area gain the tools and skills needed to move out of poverty through furthering their education and securing a job providing livable income. We understand that poverty is not only financial, but comes in many forms, such as emotional, spiritual, or mental.

We use our local United Way. They have a website that allows potential volunteers to view volunteer needs from local nonprofits and then choose the nonprofit. The United Way then sends an email contacting the nonprofit of the potential volunteer and their contact information. (more) We use our local United Way. Maintain good relationships with the volunteers in your nonprofit and show them appreciation. Keep all staff members engaged by seeking their input and allowing them to make decisions affecting their particular responsibilities. Don't micromanage your staff. Continue to make sure your name is out there in the community through a good public relations program.

It's important to have a committee solely responsible for your fundraiser.

We post about fundraisers, special events, and request specific types of donations that are needed for our services. We also use it to show what type of services we offer and some of our success stories of our graduates. I rarely post without a picture or a link to a website. Pictures seem to stand out more than just a comment. I try to post an average of twice a week. Once you get your Facebook page going, be sure to look at the insights to see what is the prime time that your page is being viewed, then post during those times to get the most views, comments, and shares. If you are not proficient at social media, find someone who does. Remember, this can be a virtual volunteer position so you are not limited to the geographic area of your nonprofit.
