About Us
We are the museum portion of the Gratiot County Historical and Genealogical Society, a non-profit that exists to collect and display artifacts relating to the history of Gratiot County. There is also a Genealogy Library where people can trace their ancestors through collected information. We are open Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and on special occasions; also offer requested tours.
How We Got Started
The museum began in 1987 in a brick home, formerly owned by the Hanners, purchased by the historical society. There is also a barn, or former carriage house, on the property. In 2016, we were given a log cabin to rebuild and restore which is now part of our exhibit buildings.
