Lynn H. Powell has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare field. She began her career as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with the Virginia State Dept. of Corrections working with juvenile and adult offenders. Having also worked at Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute in an acute psychiatric hospital, she has extensive experience working with dual diagnoses. She expanded her experience moving to the west coast to work with older adults with mental health and dementia specific disorders. After returning to the east coast to provide support to her aging parents, she received a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling. Over the last 15 years she has worked with clients with substance dependence and mental health issues. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, her goal is to provide support and build a therapeutic relationship with her clients. She understands and knows the importance of trust when working with others. Her style is supportive, motivational, direct and genuine empowering her clients to make their own positive healthy lifestyle changes.

After working as an Administrator for 13 years, a colleague invited me to join her practice. I worked for Therapy Department for a number of years. In 2016, I decided to open my own Private Practice.
