About Us

Continuing the Legacy of Our Founder, Dr. Marie Barney Boston
Dr. Marie Barney Boston Scholarship Foundation, Inc. has a rich history of investing in the communities we serve. That dates to our founding in 2016, when Dr. Marie Boston and her daughter worked diligently preparing documents to establish this scholarship foundation. She hand selected her board members welcoming each with a smile. She knew she had a greater purpose beyond meeting the educational needs of students, and she wanted to make a broader impact on the community around them.

This was Dr. Boston`s real passion. While some might point to the growth of MBBSF Inc. - now in its 7+ years in existence - as the legacy of the woman who built MBBSF, I believe Dr. Boston, if she was here today, would agree. I believe she would say the many of lives we have been able to positively impact through her mentoring is her true legacy.

The impact of MBBSF is first felt at the local level inside each of our sixteen board members. Each board member is part of a neighborhood gathering spot where people come together and share their lives. That is not by accident. We want our foundation to be welcoming to all people and a safe place for every person who has an appetite for continuing education. We know the trials of life can weigh you down, but we want that moment when your Mentor interacts with the Mentee to be one of joy, peace, and respite, where our students can refuel, recharge, and enter back into the world with a full heart of encouragement.

The second way we impact the community is by investing in the future of the students who seek leadership. For them, we provide a path to higher education through our board member engagement program. Providing scholarships began in 2016 when Dr. Boston set sail with the foundation Kickoff. She collected donations from all her friends, colleagues, family, and neighbors. Since then, we have invested more than $ 25,000 thousand to help Awardees achieve their educational dreams.

As an organization, we want to ensure we are a good corporate citizen. As the CEO, executive director, Earl Kitchings of the MBBSF, that is our charge. In 2021, MBBSF Inc. invested in digital management to expand our vision and broaden our impact. The MBBSF is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to lead the company's commitment to award financial assistance and mentoring support to high school students, vocational, and college students.

We have tried to be as transparent as possible on who we give to and why we give, which we commit to continuing to do. This website is here for that reason and because we are proud of what we've been able to accomplish together with many amazing Donors. Website address: www.mariebbsf. org

Today, we are releasing our financial contributions for 2016-2022. You can find our IRS Form 990 in Guidestar and a preview of our award recipients are photo’d on our website -www.mariebbsf.org.

Moving forward, with a continued lens on nourishing and nurturing the potential in every student, we are expanding our one critical need for high school seniors and college students in our communities. The Foundation is committed to investing in the building blocks for a healthy educational future by ensuring the students in our communities have resources for books, food, personal items needed for an education that prepares them for the world they will face.

You can read and donate through our website (www.mariebbsf.org) on the MBBSF Foundation Focus webpage. No amount of money will be enough to fix these problems for every child, but we won't let the enormity of the problems prohibit us from taking on the task.

Thank you to all of our incredible Board Members and Volunteer, our devoted corporate sponsors and, most importantly, you, our donors for making all of this possible.
