Read more "The previous owners of our house were borderline hoarders, who stored piles of crates in that crawlspace under the house, as a result, the plastic on the ground (Moisture Barrier) shifted and tore in several places, and there were signs of past rodent activity and hordes of spiders. I cleaned as best I could, and postponed professional treatment for several years. I invited Jay, the Attic Doctor, following a small leak from the water heater, which reached the Crawlspace - I didn't want it to develop into an extensive mold problem, and at the same time, clean and replace the torn barrier. Jay offered to also check the attic, and to my surprise, more serious problems were found there. Somehow the blades of the solar fan warped so it was stuck and stopped working, causing moisture and extensive mold to build up (not yet at a dangerous level, but that needed urgent treatment). In addition, and this was not even mentioned by the Inspector when I bought the house, the amount of insulation installed by the builder was about 70% less than what was required by code... The project turned out bigger than I expected, but it's good that we did now, and I'm happy to recommend the professional team at The Attic Doctor to anyone who needs it!"
