True Story: I have been an appraiser for 20 years, and I still hired an appraiser prior to selling my own house, to provide a negotiating tool for the Realtor I chose. I interviewed 5 Realtors and none would take my listing without a guarantee to cover their marketing costs if the home didn't sell in 90 days since none thought my home would sell for the appraised value. I picked the most optimistic of the 5 Realtors. My house sold in two weeks and set a new record for $/SF and overall sales price for the neighborhood. Best $550 I ever spent. June 2019 Austin TX
