PTA Thrift Shop of La Habra, Inc.

About Us

We provide free clothing to needy families in 3 school districts, several groups and churches in the La Habra community. We have a wide range of antiques to clothing that we sell at low prices. We also sell on eBay items under lahabraptathrift. These items are new, collectible, antiques and unique. Our clothing ranges from preemie to 4XL.

How We Got Started

Three school districts provided the funding to open the shop and it has been an all-volunteer non-profit organization since its inception in 1958. We continue the mission that our first officers started in 1958 and hope to keep it going. We continue to keep the shop open with volunteers.

I am the wife of a retired Army Colonel.  When my girls were young and my husband was away on active duty, the girls would always come down sick.  It never failed.  So, while I have not served, I did help out in my own little way to provide support to my husband.   (more) I am the wife of a retired Army Colonel.  When my girls were young and my husband was away on active duty, the girls would always come down sick.  It never failed.  So, while I have not served, I did help out in my own little way to provide support to my husband.

I volunteer my time at the shop so my spouse is not my partner.  He supports the help I provide the shop.   (more) I volunteer my time at the shop so my spouse is not my partner.  He supports the help I provide the shop.

We are hoping to keep our little shop open and continue to keep it open as the new year comes.  We are trying our best to bringing in funds to continue operating.  Looking forward to a new year and a brighter future for the shop. When the first wave of the pandemic hit, I was able to list as much as possible on eBay for sale and some items on OfferUp.  That helped me pay all my utilities and partial rent.  If we hit another surge, as is expected, I will continue to list as much as possible again on eBay and on OfferUp,... I continue to sell our donations on eBay, which have kept us afloat.  I have also sold via OfferUp, though sometimes the person does not show up.  Now that we are open, we are making a little money but not enough to pay our back rent.   (more) I continue to sell our donations on eBay, which have kept us afloat.  I have also sold via OfferUp, though sometimes the person does not show up.  Now that we are open, we are making a little money but not enough to pay our back rent.
