This doesn’t just happen in family owned business, it happens in large corporations that are run by bullies and HR doesn’t do anything about it. I worked at a large corporate laboratory and the supervisor was close with the trouble makers. They sabotaged patients  blood specimens if they didn’t like you so they would have to be redrawn, they made patients lab requests disappear. I saw one of the girls who was processing blood specimens pour out a patients blood and tell the new phlebotomist “oops guess you better call your patient for a redraw” I started making a log of every patient I had each day and the lab request to cover myself.  If you complain to the area supervisor nothing happened, he would just tell the bully and she made life even more miserable for everyone. Finally after about a year of putting up with this, I left and opened my company. Others stayed cause they needed there jobs. I went to the corporate level after leaving and filed a work place harassment suit against them. In the end everyone was fired, but if I hadn’t of had those logs and paperwork I made, it would probably still be happening. Get out of there it’s not worth the stress.
