John Vivian is an independent appraiser of gems and jewelry serving the Western Washington area. He has been active in the jewelry industry since 1978, opening Washington Gemological Laboratory in 1997.
Among his other designations, John holds a Graduate Gemologist certification from the Gemological Institute of America and is a Certified Master Appraiser with the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers.
To stay current with all of the changes occurring in gemstone enhancement and identification, John participates in several seminars a year.
Washington Gemological Laboratory is fully equipped and is designated as a Certified Gemological Laboratory by both the Accredited Gemologists Association and the American Gem Society. Details of his professional designations and current educational activities are detailed below.
In addition to appraising all types of jewelry, earrings, rings, pendants, bracelets and watches, we also appraise loose gemstones, sterling silver flatware, sterling silver hollowware and firearms. The age of the item doesn't matter. We have appraised jewelry that goes back into the 1700s, and firearms back to 1847.
