In small businesses, the lack of qualified personnel to delegate to, compounded by having to wear too many hats, leads to problems. With too many irons in the fire, something's going to burn. Over time, you notice it's YOU that's been running around with your hair on fire! Something has to give. It's most likely, you. When you cry "uncle", and the boss doesn't "see" it, "hear" it, "care" about it or change it, you run, not walk... to the closest bucket of water to put out the flames. Leading with empathy followed by decent business practices is a great way to empower your employees to WANT to give you their best even under pressure. A release valve is built into a pressure cooker. Make sure you, as an employer has one and uses it.

Do you have a degree in this field? Find yourself a mentor who can introduce you and your work within a networking group. You can't help others if you don't have the proper tools yourself. Get some training and make yourself appear as professional as possible.
