About Us

The mission of The Brave Women's Community Center is to empower women and girls to overcome anxiety, depression, and societal pressures through a variety of healing and creative practices. We aim to build a supportive community where competition is replaced by collaboration, helping each individual to expand, explore, and discover their identities. This nurturing environment encourages women and girls to find their strength and bravery, and to put their own passions into practice in a welcoming and joyful setting.

How We Got Started

Lucia Severtson, is the founder of The Brave Women’s Community Center and a licensed psychotherapist and creative arts therapist. Her journey began in performance arts, evolving into a career in psychotherapy after earning an MA in mental health counseling and dance/movement therapy in 2008.

In 2019, Lucia faced a personal mental health crisis, highlighting the need for a supportive community tailored to women with anxiety and depression. This experience inspired her to establish The Brave Women’s Community Center. The center offers a nurturing space that transcends traditional therapy, integrating love, encouragement, creativity, and fun into the healing process.

Lucia fosters a non-competitive, co-creative environment that encourages women and girls to shed societal expectations and embrace their individuality. Her vision for is to create a community where women support each other’s authenticity and freedom.
