How We Got Started

I have been in the travel industry since 1989 working alongside my late father for 11 yrs until his untimely passing. I was asked by AAA Travel to come help co-manage 3 offices in Lancaster before becoming a stay at home mom.

With our 5th son & his extensive medical issues I needed to work from home, the birth of my agency "Making MAGICAL Vacations Travel" was born. I focus on helping families & couples plan all of their special and memorable Disney vacations. I have many clients from all over the United States that have traveled extensively with my expertise and services when visiting any Disney Destination!

I sell Disney "magic" to the families that I have serviced over the years is the reason I love & enjoy what I'm able to do and that is to extend the feeling of what makes a Disney destination to fall in love with over and over again- hearing about and seeing the photos of "my extended/client families" joy and excitement is all I need and what keeps me loving what I do!

I personally would confront those who are immature and self absorbed to be mindful that people come from all walks of life , backgrounds, etc. Its sad that some seem to get their kicks off defaming ones character, yet morale and for those who listen and partake are just as guilty.  Therefore... (more) I personally would confront those who are immature and self absorbed to be mindful that people come from all walks of life , backgrounds, etc. Its sad that some seem to get their kicks off defaming ones character, yet morale and for those who listen and partake are just as guilty.  Therefore "kill 'em with kindness" , don't fuel their fire... We were all put on this earth for purpose, it sounds like for some, they are still trying to get out kindergarten. You should never let anyone define or decide your purpose. In life there will be the "Negative Nancy's", "Debbie Downers" and the always "Sympathy Seeker Sarah's" out there, unfortunately however don't be pulled into their drama, shame on them and the admins of the company for allowing this sort of behavior to continue...It sounds like the company maybe in need of a scrub if they condone this kind of workplace environment. I'm certain though somewhere along the line you were hired out of bunch based on your merits/reputation and atrributes that would be a great fit for the company not the bully squad, if none of them can't handle what you bring to the team, its time for them to go and literally should be fired on the grounds of discrimination among other things that sounds like a laundry list of "don'ts" in the employee handbook... First , if not already I would write and detail everything out on paper from the time it statred and how it has escalated to where it is now. Add names, dates, places and even witnesses to this. Put it then in a bullet point outline that way everything is condense , right to the point and not in a muddled mess. I would make copies, I then  would ask for a meeting between the admins/managers and even possibly the owner of the company immediately to have this addressed and see where it leads, I would also think of maybe hiring a lawyer on the grounds that employees are the ones doing this to you and that if its not addressed appropriately that you will take the matter if necessary to the lawyer. Its pretty sad that you may have to go this route, however this behavior simply can not be tolerated before it can escalate to something much more. If it means that these employees are terminated than so be it. It will be on their record and will sadly follow them to any future employees willing to hire them. Sometimes, the best thing is to remove the toxicity from the environment, trying to defend yourself amongst "the children" really isn't warranted at this point.  Best Wishes, I surely hope you feel by the comments the empowerment of all who are on your side, lifting you up in prayer and spirit and only wish the best!

I have been in the travel industry 30 yrs...I co-managed a brand name company who has been in travel industry for nearly 70 yrs before 9/11... I own my own travel agency, so there is no middle man btw me and our clients and have 19 Magical Specialists in my company throughout the United... (more) I have been in the travel industry 30 yrs...I co-managed a brand name company who has been in travel industry for nearly 70 yrs before 9/11... I own my own travel agency, so there is no middle man btw me and our clients and have 19 Magical Specialists in my company throughout the United States! My specialists and I are NOT a "faceless" brand (Expedia/Priceline/HotWire/Book It).... Those online agencies lack client-relationships and personalized service that clients have been craving.... They are done being burned!  I have seen our industry ride high before 9/11 and then crashed following 9/11... At the sametime the internet and world wide web was a new thing... and so was "convenience" of using it for everything from real estate/insurance and travel...however all of these industries have seen a resurgence of potential clients craving for us who are travel specialists being the experts that we are...  The benefits of working with someone like us is that we have given our clients Personalized Service- Knowledge and Peace of Mind.... Clients who utilize "faceless" brands constantly come crying the blues of having none of the above when using the internet...  Who can their clients call when the flight was wrong? Or tickets weren't charged? The "faceless" brand they booked thru...Let's be real here! Many of these "faceless" brands have simply  "call takers" that falsely state to the potential clients that they are "travel agents" when clearly they have never been to the destinations they sell.  They lack all customer service skills, they read from a prompter and they are sales quota driven, they ignore the needs of their clients etc... so when mistakes are made and very costly ones, too say the "faceless" brands are travel agents is truly an insult!   Instead these potential clients will be scrambling while on their "nightmare" they call a vacation...calling us travel specialists who will try and clean-up the mess... and as long as we do, we will NEVER go out of business....What is sad? is that these potential clients have to get burned before they realize they could have used anyone of us "real" travel specialists and why we aren't going anywhere!

What is your focus? What are you an expert in? If its cruises/excursions etc... Focus your efforts in being the expert of what you know the most about in your business and use that as your pitch, then craft the answers around the questions that will most be asked by your clientele and keep that... This card along with our sincere thanks of appreciation will be sent once the referral is booked through us and checked out of their resort.  Because of the personalized service we offer to all of our clients who book with us , one of the many reasons our clients and potential clients work with us is that we provide Discount/Promotion Monitoring. Yes, we value ourselves... With the expertise and the knowledge we bring to all of our clients..our clients deserve the very BEST and we deliver the BEST in all of our "magical" vacations we plan.  We have been in the travel industry for 30 yrs next year...Our specialists (not agents) there is a... (more) Yes, we value ourselves... With the expertise and the knowledge we bring to all of our clients..our clients deserve the very BEST and we deliver the BEST in all of our "magical" vacations we plan.  We have been in the travel industry for 30 yrs next year...Our specialists (not agents) there is a HUGE difference, provides such a specialized service that many of our clients ask if our service fee is enough!  Our clients don't want a "faceless" brand , they want a personalized service and that what our agency gives and has given and they are willing to pay for... Many "newbie" agents are willing to throw money away, by saying they are FREE gives the impression that they are desperate... Many will NOT follow-up/are available to return calls when clients have issues/guide the clients with expert knowledge that they really don't have and frankly many lack business knowledge/skills treating their career as a hobby... We have many local agencies that do what I just stated in the paragraph and as long as they screw up, we'll be in business, its sad but true....  We get A LOT of clients from them WHY? because of the lack of knowledge and service from previous agencies... there are so many (we know the names) of the agents, do we want them in our agency : hell no...However they keep us busy fixing their screw ups and in the end we retain them as our client and hence they refer friends and family to us and they gladly pay our service fees.. Our specialists get business training and with the destinations they wish to sell they receive their traning as well that gets passed on to the clients we serve, that my friends isn't free and neither is their own personal trips and personal education... Clients should be asking questions when looking to work with agents: * Have you been to the destination I'm looking to take my family? * What are some accrediations and honors do you as an agent have ? * What are some of the accreditiations and honors does the agency have? * When was the last time you yourself (the agent) were physically to the destination I'm looking to go to?  If the agent/agency can't answer these questions , then that client needs to find someone who has the skills/the dedication of time and expertise to help them plan their vacation , not plan to break their bank and leave them angry... Agents need to understand that commissions are just a "thank you" from the supplier as a way of bringing clients to them that they themselves cannot....Suppliers can do away with commissions, there is nothing stating anywhere that they have to offer any... Clients are looking for value not cheap...cheap anyone can get , but value is something most will pay for and the ones that don't want value, well you don't want them as a client anyway...  I was in the industry before/during and after 9/11.... Many airline companies did away with comissions following 9/11 however before we used to receive 16% commissions ...now even after 17 yrs airline companies that only exist won't pay them... that's why many brick and mortar agencies vanished... Faceless brands such as the big name online booking engines have burned many people all because they wanted convenience and cheap... these same clients who've been burned now want a personalized service and they are willing to pay for it... You get what you pay for!
