Clients should not have to worry if they are working with the right person. These transactions are... (more)           On the lending side I have learned that trust and confidence are very important. My clients need to feel comfortable working with me. Our personalities need to 'fit' to some degree. Clients should not have to worry if they are working with the right person. These transactions are stressful enough with all of the moving components.           I get a lot of repeat and referral business and have built a solid referral network over the last decade here in Vegas. Nothing compares to positive word of mouth, but you better be ready to live up to the expectations. That said I like to under promise and over deliver - even on the small things. At the end of the day there are hundreds of banks and thousands of loan originators out there, the choice is to do business with me - not my bank. Your personal brand is very important.           You need to be accessible and communicate well too. Frequent updates help keep folks at ease and be able to relax. I use a combination of text, email, phone and personal meetings and I don't like to go more than a few days without touching base via one of these methods - even if all parties know the next phase in the transaction is a week or more off.           Don't take on more than you can handle. Sounds like a good problem to have but it can turn ugly quick. I have referred friends to work with another person I trust at my bank when I knew I would not be able to provide the level of service they deserved.           Last but most important - LISTEN! Listen to your clients and get to know them. What are their wants and needs? What is important to them? Who is in their family and part of the transaction? Why are they making the transaction? When do they need to close? Are they flexible? Be human and don't treat them like a number. Earn their trust and their business.
