There are franchises that offer semi-absentee, absentee/passive ownership and provide residual income. We help individuals find the franchise that best suits their wants and needs. The best part is that our services are free to our clients. Please call 816-520-6122.

Age discrimination is a very real thing and even if you do get a new job, the same exact thing may happen again - you may be out. The only real way to guarantee yourself a job is to create it yourself. You said you are a solopreneur, so you know what is required to own your own business, but have you considered a franchise? I'm a franchise coach who will work closely with you to assess your goals, your strengths, your weaknesses, and your market to help discover franchises that present the greatest opportunities for success. My services are free to you (the franchisor pays me when you find that perfect franchise). With a franchise, you have that base support to help make your business successful. They are many franchises that only require you to have a home office computer/laptop. Email me at Diane@DynastyFranchises.com

Kindly & professionally talk to them one-on-one, in person, if possible (the actual client, not necessarily the person that cuts the checks). Explain that you value them as a client, but YOU are also valuable. Offer that they may not have known this was happening, let them save face (the first time). You expect to be paid on time, your prices might rise, or that your valuable service may go away if monies aren't paid timely. Give them a reasonable short time to catch up (set a deadline), then tell them you know they, as a professional and intelligent business person, understand the importance of cash flow & you expect no less than timely payment. Ask THEM what THEY do when THEIR clients don't pay! - Really! Offer a "payment plan - if they don't have all the money at this time". Many times people, with plenty of money to pay, will take the "payment plan" offer as a backhanded insult, but it may make them think and not want to appear weak. If you don't already have it in your terms, don't discount your prices now for timely or early payment. That rewards their bad behavior. You can consider that down the road for your entire businesses payment terms. The very next time a payment is late, send them a certified/signature required letter (not email), restating your payment terms, give them a deadline, and write what you will do next (payment up front, a retainer, raise prices, report them to the BBB, turn over to a collection agency, etc.) if they don't pay on time. But do not make empty threats. Don't threaten unless you are willing to take those steps. Chronically late payors usually have cash flow problems themselves or control issues. Don't let either affect you!

I don't ask a question, I use a statement: "Tell me about yourself". You will get everything from VERY personal information (things you may not want to know) to plain previous employment lists. But you will get some insight as to what is at the forefront of their mind right now and their personality. Do they go into business-related information or a more social or personal aspect? The second statement: "Tell me what you have done, throughout your life". Again, this is very open if you didn't get enough with the first statement. Do add "throughout your life", it is an important part to open up the conversation. I do consider the interview as a conversation, not questions and answers.
