I'm a local artist in Lone Tree, creating black & white illustrations that show off the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. These are not simply photographs that have been digitally re-worked. Each illustration is comprised of between 30-100 individual components (tree, mountains, clouds, buildings, vehicles, bushes, grass, rocks, etc.). These elements are individually sized, layered, and shaded to accommodate their location in the final image as well as the overall light source. The use of this technique gives me the freedom to crate completely original images that appear as if taken from a single photograph.
Always been a fan of Ansel Adams work, but never had the photographic eye (nor the patience) to duplicate his process. But I eventually found a method that allows me to capture the beauty of black & white images without needing to learn the dark room techniques Adams utilized.
