Most recently, Coach Roc partnered with We Will Rise during our virtual session, Navigating Incarceration, where he shared critical insight, encouragement, and lived experience that resonated deeply with families and community members. His ability to connect real-life challenges with actionable strategies for healing, accountability, and forward movement was transformative. He speaks not just from theory, but from experience—and that authenticity makes all the difference.
Rich Roots Rich Fruits is more than an organization—it is a movement grounded in resilience, restoration, and results. I highly recommend Coach Roc for his integrity, leadership, and proven impact in uplifting communities and helping individuals rediscover their strength and purpose.

"It is with deep respect and strong enthusiasm that I write this letter of recommendation for Art in the Park and the transformative work they continue to do in partnership with We Will Rise Consulting and the broader East Harlem community.
As an educator, school leader, mental health professional, and Founder of We Will Rise Consulting, LLC, I have had the privilege of collaborating closely with Art in the Park across multiple community settings, including programming at PS 102, PS 155, River East Elementary School, Jefferson Houses, and Bethel Gospel Assembly. Through these partnerships, I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact of art as a vehicle for healing, unity, and restoration within families navigating significant emotional and socioeconomic challenges.
In the aftermath of COVID-19, many of the families we serve—particularly those residing in public housing communities such as Jefferson Houses—continue to experience heightened levels of depression, anxiety, grief, financial instability, and chronic stress. The cumulative impact of post-pandemic trauma, economic hardship, housing insecurity, and systemic inequities has deeply affected both caregivers and children. Families are often balancing survival needs while quietly carrying emotional burdens that go unseen and unsupported.
Art in the Park plays an intricate and indispensable role in addressing these realities.Through culturally responsive and intentionally designed art programming, they create accessible, safe spaces where families can pause, breathe, reflect, and reconnect. While artwork may not eliminate the challenges families are facing, it offers something equally powerful: hope, peace, creative expression, and collective healing.
In workshops held within schools, faith-based institutions, and community spaces—including Jefferson Houses—I have observed parents and children sitting side by side painting, building, and creating together. These shared experiences foster meaningful dialogue, strengthen family bonds, and reduce feelings of isolation that often accompany mental health struggles and economic hardship.
Their programming:
Encourages emotional expression among youth who may not yet have the language to articulate stress, grief, or anxiety
Provides caregivers with restorative moments of connection and reflection
Promotes intergenerational healing and family unity
Bridges relationships between schools, housing communities, faith institutions, and community-based organizations
Reinforces that families are seen, valued, and supported
In school-based settings such as PS 102, PS 155, and River East Elementary, Art in the Park complements social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices by creating tangible outlets for self-expression. Within Jefferson Houses, their presence brings programming directly into the heart of the community—removing barriers to access and meeting families where they are. At Bethel Gospel Assembly, their partnership strengthens holistic, faith-centered wellness initiatives that nurture both spiritual and emotional well-being.
When families are navigating depression, post-COVID trauma, financial strain, or other mental health challenges, access to creative and affirming spaces becomes essential. Art in the Park consistently serves as a bridge—connecting families to schools, community stakeholders, and support systems in ways that foster trust, belonging, and healing.
Their work does not simply facilitate art activities; it cultivates ecosystems of hope. For these reasons, I recommend Art in the Park, their presence in schools, public housing communities, and faith institutions plays a critical role in bringing people together and fostering healing, hope, and joy where it is most needed.
