In my 30 year career, I have always been passionate about customer service, education, training, mentoring, helping and serving other people.
For years, I was directed to become part of the end of life movement. In 2020, I completed courses on end of life, hospice volunteering, palliative care, advance care planning, legacy work, death and dying, grief, loss and bereavement, traditional and green burials and the benefits of hiring a doula for all aspects of end of life.
What is a doula ?
Doula is a Greek word that means servant.
Some of you may have heard of a birthing doula, who helps the expectant mother during the birthing process and continues to support the family after the baby is born.
Similarly, a death doula assists people and their loved ones before, after and throughout the dying process. An End of Life Doula provides non-medical assistance in the form of practical, spiritual, psychosocial and emotional support to the individual, primary caregiver and family.
