Blackburn Architecture's practice is focused on achieving high performance building enclosure exterior walls, fenestrations, and roof systems to prevent water penetration, and air and thermal leakage for energy efficient and durable buildings. We provide consulting on building envelope design, construction, operation, and maintenance. Services include peer review of building envelope design development, construction drawings and specifications, as well as product submittals, and quality assurance inspections and testing during construction. We also provide inspections and analysis of existing building conditions, damage, and building envelope commissioning.
Mr. Blackburn is a registered Architect with over 40-years’ experience in building design, construction, contract administration, condition assessment, and damage or defect cause & origin investigations. The focus of his practice today is on the performance of the building enclosure with consulting on design, restoration and remediation, commissioning (Cx), condition assessment, defect investigation, and damage assessment. He has Bachelor and Master of Architecture degrees from the Tulane University School of Architecture, and is a Registered Architect in Texas by NCARB exam, and previously licensed in the U.S. Virgin Islands (inactive), and Florida (inactive) with NCARB certification. He has also provided air barrier audits for the Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA).
His clients are Attorneys, Architects, Real Estate Developers, Building Owners and Managers, Government Agencies, General Contractors, Insurance Companies and Adjusters, Construction and Mortgage Lenders, as well as other building construction consultants, and Commissioning agents.
He also lectures on building enclosure performance design and construction, and Cx of the building enclosure for the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Certified Building Commissioning Professional certification program, as well as at AIA national and components and Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA) conventions.
