What networking nightmare bothers you most?
Answered by:
Recently I had an opportunity to talk with great, experienced and successful sales person. He told me when in networking meeting talk about anything except your profession unless the person in the group asks you. He says talking about your profession is big turn off for others at least me. I realized when biz owners or marketing persons starts SELLING you their products or services in the initial meetings I get annoyed. These meetings are to BUILD RELATIONSHIPS. Relationships bring business. Personally, I give business to those whom I trust the most which comes from the strong relationship.

Yes, I agree that these meetings are truly focused on building relationships and the transactions of business will be organic and not forced or guilt tripped into.

I agree to not talk the entire time, but if you are in business, you SHOULD be passionate about it and want to talk about it - but talk about it in the way of how you can serve your customers, not just (or really at all) “how great you are.”
