How We Got Started

Most of us all worked together at a much larger agency and 15 of us decided it was time to "do our own" thing to benefit our clients and improve the already good relationships with our insurance carriers. In less than 8 months we had our office, our carriers, and most importantly, our friends and clients and have been going strong for over 25 years !

(more) The general historical consensus of insurance carriers is that IF the neighbors tree was dead and or poorly maintained ( where it is hanging over your property or house precariously) , the neighbor is responsible and their personal liability insurance will cover the loss.  If the tree was living and healthy , then the sometimes referred to " Act of God " will play and your insurance covers the loss to your property subject to your coverage and deductible.  When the tree hits a shared fence line the loss to that "other structure" is shared between the 2 insurance companies subject to the respective deductibles.  Note that if your tree fall on your own house ( dead or alive ) the insurance will pay only to remove the tree from your house or detached property.  Most homeowners policies have a specific tree & shrubs coverage ( usually $ 500 on a base policy ) so know what you have before you spend out of pocket monies on this type of loss and find you may only recoup a minor amount.  ( another reason to fully understand what you're buying and not just looking at price ! )  Lastly, never feel bad about discussing with you neighbor about trees (living or dead) encroaching or threatening your property and do it in writing (take pictures)  if they do not remedy the situation. This may come in handy should a loss ensue.

(more) When having ANY contractor working for you, it is mandatory that you request a "Certificate of Insurance"  from them as proof that they have , at minimum, liability insurance and hopefully Worker's Compensation Insurance.  Look at their "per occurrence" liability limits closely.  If they have the base $ 1 Million per occurrence and they are working on your $250,000+ home, they don't have enough coverage.  If the contractor were to burn your house or business down you need to take into account replacement cost of the building, the contents, cost to live elsewhere, loss of income ( for business ), relocation, etc !   If a contractor does not have Worker's Compensation and they injure themselves on your property, the worker could come after you for those costs.  Commercial businesses having contractors working at their property/location have additional exposures and should have that same Certificate of Insurance naming them as an additional insured and their ( contractor ) coverage is " Primary and Non-Contributory"  with a "Waiver of Subrogation" where allowed by law.

( I am sure somewhere in the insurance contract, their is a "duty to notify" of any material changes that could affect the original underwriting and acceptance of the contract (policy ) and I am sure would affect or reduce payment of benefits for a failure to notify.   2) At this point, I seriously doubt if any insurers have a specific form pertaining to "gender reassignment" in reference to  life /health benefits or those who " identify" as a different sex ( or race ) .  I would assume that an insurance carrier would require the request of "change" be supported by medical documentation of various types and could be handled by the original producer/broker/agent and /or direct with the insuring company.  ...and thank goodness I specialize in property-casualty insurance and our benefits department can deal with these types of matters.

In my business I have the agreement, that my job is to get you the best insurance at the best price. Your job is to pay the bill.  ...and like baseball, you get 3 strikes and your out !  I do not have a problem servicing an account , but I will not babysit one.   (more) In my business I have the agreement, that my job is to get you the best insurance at the best price. Promotes your company and generally will start a conversation  I was smart and bought my personal name as an additional domain and put it on the yoke of my shirts when attending sports events. When you type in my name it takes you right to my agency's website!  My name/website is in front of your face the whole game and smartphone people always seem to check it out and/or start a conversation.
