At RKM Support Services, we are dedicated to enhancing employee well-being through comprehensive mental health and substance use support. Our approach integrates continuity of care, leveraging peer support techniques to foster a supportive environment and wrap-around mental health strategies to address individual needs holistically. By combining these methodologies, we ensure that employees receive consistent, personalized care that promotes their mental health and aids in substance use recovery, ultimately fostering a healthier and more productive workforce.
Working in the mental health and substance use disorder business over many years, I have seen a need for more employee and family support that people will actually use. EAP has been around for decades but out of the MILLIONS of people that have it, only 4.6 percent actually use it. This is because they don't want to go to Human Resources and ask for help and they definitely don't want it on their permanent health records. Also, the client usually only gets 6 sessions per year. Then I heard about two things that came from Harvard University. First, Half of the people around the world will experience some type of mental health symptom during their life. Also, they indicated that a significant number of them could benefit from a less formal care option. They emphasize that 80% of these people could find relief from Community care, Peer support or other non-traditional methods, rather than requiring formal psychiatric treatment. This aligns with care access and stigma reduction.
