This is not ethical. This may have legal ramifications as well. If the locksmith is cloning HID cards then how do you know he's not cloning it more than once and giving it to others to access your workplace. Guess who's libel if the cloned HID is used and a crime is committed.
This is a method used by social engineers to gain access.
