There is no law saying you can't and your paying to the gov unemployment on yourself as an employee, so no reason why not. But, clearly, it could look suspect so be ready for a thorough investigation. Better to have good disability insurance I think.

As a very small business owner, Social Media is fun but not really advertisement. However, if I wanted to use Social Media as advertisement, there really are not many business people who provide hands on assistance, with cheat sheets, to facilitate ethical use. In other words, one can hire a person to do the social media but to facilitate the owner doing it is difficult. For the owner, the social media needs to be actually from us not by a 3rd person, to be ethical -at least that is the position of the State Bar of Arizona. So, stripping of personality and going full on business commentary is difficult. Not only does the individual need to shut down personal views, but needs to man about three or more platforms to really use it right. Thus, social media, to be used correctly in a ethical manner, for the small business owner, is a demanding and difficult mistress requiring the owner to take on yet another position or three within the firm where once a simple website with SPO was enough and before that just a Yellowpage add in the phone book and a newspaper add now and then.

I do both, seek out people bono work for non profits and wait for those seeking free services to come to me. Currently, I assist with two non profits both of which cater to legal services: one for a particular group of disabled persons and one for a particular group of minorities. As with many service professionals, most lawyers provide a free consultation. These people reach out to me. I do too. I actually engage in strategic services, during my free consultation, that gives real advise to the extent possible at no cost. We review statutes, and sometimes even case law, as applied to facts the individual relays to me. Sometimes I review and edit documents. Other times, I diagram out complex strategies. These consultations can last a few minutes to over an hour. All consultations involve a conflicts check screening. Sometimes I am compelled to draft a pleading for someone at no cost during these sessions. I always screen for ability to pay for services after determining there is a need for services. In other words, if the free consultation is not enough to fix the issue, and it is determined the person needs legal assistance, we determine what level of assistance is appropriate based on their resources. At which point, the pro bono services usually end. Over the years of practice, I have created pre conceived criteria for deciding who I will accept as a pro bono client and over and above the courtesy consultation phase of a case, I stick with that most of the time. Other than the depth of my courtesy consultation, most attorneys assisting individuals provide that same level of assistance to individuels of the general public. Further, most are involved in non profits they provide legal services for or through. It is who we lawyers are.

I am sorry to hear your expectations based on advertisements were not met. Unfortunately, most of the time projected turnouts are not guaranteed but what is hoped for and expected. It is a form of legal advertisement hype usually. However, if the crowd was the necessary part, and thus you could not have a functionable event, you might have cause for a refund. In that case, if you paid with a credit card, contact your bank and discuss it if you have contacted the event sales and had no luck. For perspective, compare the event to a sold out concert, and you show up but the crown is really small. If the tickets really were sold out, and people did not show, there is no lie. If the tickets were limited to a small crowd and the size was not stated but only percieved by you, you might not have a remedy. Read your fine print, the ticket details and all. Why waste time more lost time on it if there is no viable remedy.

If you think it is intense now, wait until a decision is made where she comes back or decides to stay. Marriage issues usually do not resolve while parents are apart. But, mistakes happen due to waiting to see what will take place. If this is an Arizona matter, the Mother could come back and take the children to Greece, she could send out vibes to the children that Greece is very special and this can cause friction in your home. While you are working to keep the family financially secure, all sorts of issues may be brewing. You do not want to involve the children, but your not the only deciding of that condition. Family counseling is your best option right now. Mom can join in long distance. In the mean time, you are a single parent, and you need to act like a full time single parent. Get into a rhythm now so mistakes do not happen. Make sure homework is done, make sure the children get picked up from school timely and that the behave at the home when your working. You may need a in home care provider for after school. Note that in Arizona, your assets are community property, so all your hard work at your bakery is still your Wife's hard work too, even though she is living a relaxed work free life in Greece. So, you may want to get started on a Legal Separation to make legal the physical separation and protect your work product that she is not a part of. Talk to a Divorce Lawyer sooner rather than later. I hope all resolves long term for you and your family in a happy manner.

It is simple, you feel physically and mentally threatened at your workplace, your work is a career rather than just a job, you have been present for some time at this job, enough to have brought it successes. It is time to move on before your fear and another's jealousy harms you. To do otherwise means you and the position are so unique that you cannot replace each other. Because the business wants to make money, because only sociopaths (on t.v.) sabatoge vehicles at the workplace over petty jealousy, either your in danger from a crazy person or your paranoid possibly. Talk to a therapist to get the right perspective and find a job recruiter out of the specific area with instructions not to confer with anyone at your employment because if they get wind of your looking at other jobs the crazy person or the HR department might help you leave sooner than you anticipated. Consider an online or other outside of work course or program to refresh and expand your skills. Also, take on tasks in a manner that delivers success and be sure to keep data or have your lawyer keep data that shows your very good at your job (don't violate your employment contract, talk to a lawyer about how to save work product).

You seem to be looking for part time work and you seem to have a somewhat flexable schedule as the owner of the non profit. Further, it appears to me by reading between the lines your not sure of the industry you appeal to but have executive secretarial skills. I suggest you apply at a temp agency. Such an agency will know how to place your skills in the market. Even if you only do this for a while, the exposure will show you what the market will pay, what jobs you are hirable for and provide you an opportunity to shine. Think of it like a long paid for interview for a more perminent job down the road. Sometimes temp jobs become perminent jobs. As a specialized job, you might look for grant writing positions. Be careful that you do not sign a contract that does mot let you compete for grants though, as that is your best funding source for long term funding for your nom-profit. Anyway, my thoughts, I hope it is helpful.

Your religion is important to you. The business owner's business is important to the owner. Each would likely say essential over important. If you took a job where your religion interferes with the getting done the work your hire was relied on to get done, the employer is likely within their right to require you to show up for work. If there are folks who can substitute by an arrangement of the schedule, and you gave enough notice for the accomodation, then your religion could be able to be accomodated. Employers want to retain employees, but they have a job to do as well that your hired to do. That is all there is to it. Imagine a small town police department having an emergency and the only sheriff took off work to observe a holy day and did not therefore attend a school bombing crisis leaving inexperienced deputies to handle it. What about your children in that school? Or the one trauma surgion or nurse does not show up for the emergency treatment if the school bomb went off! You can see how these competing goals can cause the job, your job to come first. It does not have to be life threatening. If your the only paralegal, and the firm needs you, it may apply to you too. I hope this helps.
