Few things I have learned is persistence and relationship. Really get to know your investor and see what their motivation is in their lives and in business.

Never assume that a person knows what you want them to do - always inform and stay engaged.
When you are knowledgeable about the subject, own your ability to share with people what you know. That confidence carries you in connecting with your audience. Observe yourself in front of a mirror or record yourself. You will see your habits when you speak. It may not be as bad as you think....
