Eye of the Beholder Quilt Design
Since 2012 Eye of the Beholder Quilt Design has been impacting the world with beauty and hope with its unique patterns, inspiring lectures and empowering workshops, because “Quilting is a creative act of hope”. Our reach is personal, no matter the setting, as we share our passion for creativity and a touch of elegance. Our original reverse applique pattern designs, for hand and machine creation, are inspired by architecture of the Victorian era and the beauty of the world around us. The founder, Margaret Willingham, teaches the innovative (and foolproof!) method that she devised -'Trace, Baste, Snip & Stitch' , which takes the mystery (and hardship) out of reverse applique. Typically her classes focus on technique and design to empower quilters with transferable skills. Through her lectures and classes she fosters creating as an act of love which raises endorphins as one participates in making something of beauty, for creating stirs up and multiplies the tiniest shred of hope. For while quilting may be an "ordinary" art / craft, there is nothing ordinary about quilt creativity and the beauty of the quilts one creates. Each quilt made is as unique as the maker and is actualized hope transformed into quilted beauty that is tangible love that can wrap you up in warmth or crack open your heart to gaze at. Beauty, in all its forms, takes your breath away and feeds your soul. It gifts us with moments of peace, softens us to love and opens the way to a future with hope. It helps put everything into perspective.
Through our customers, students and friends we've had the privilege of imbuing them with our passions and ideas on creativity, beauty and hope through our patterns and other offerings. Beauty can save the world. Specifically quilt beauty can save the world, and our unique quilt patterns and passions are part of that story.
The founder Margaret Willingham was a professional dancer/ choreographer/ teacher for 40 years first. While recovery from a major spinal surgery in 2011 she was quilting and seeking the Lord's direction for her next career, as her dance profession was at an end. The Lord's direction was to follow the desire of her heart into this new creative endeavor. She began the process and followed the open doors into the business Eye of the Beholder Quilt Design which publicly debuted at the Denver Quilt Festival in May 2012 with 6 patterns. Now, 12 years later, there are 50 patterns, Margaret is a published author, has appeared on The Quilt Show with Ricky Tims presenting her signature reverse appliqué methods for hand & machine and Molas, and is an international teacher virtually and nationally in-person.
