Also, encouraging others to give a like or write a google review of other small businesses they know, patronize, or support. Its good to give a shout out about other local small businesses! I’ve started 2 Zoom networking phone calls every Tuesday morning... one with a broad group of professionals to talk business and another “women’s sphere” to discuss the more personal issues of being business owners juggling  work/life issues. You’ve got to have an outlet to laugh, commiserate, support, and just see each others faces over coffee

(more) oh wow, this is my story.  and here's how ive dealt with it... first off, knowing that youre scared is part of the solution. ok, youre introverted. now, pretend that youre not. pull out your inner actor and do what you would do if you were not afraid. someone told me that at a seminar on shyness years ago and it was amazing. second, someone told me this when i said i hated the sales role because i didn't see myself as a salesperson. he said, "yes you are, just in your own way." and thats true. you dont need to be the wolf of wall street. you need to be you.  if you are conversational, use that approach.  i am not a hard sell person and have pretty great results one on one when i get to sit and get to know my customer. they appreciate that. third, do what scares you.  people think im fearless.  im not.  i just dont have the option of being afraid.  so, take the biggest challenge on any given day's list, attack it first, and the rest of the day is a cakewalk. join a BNI networking group.  it does wonders for upping your presentation game. youre in a "safe" space with people who want to help you succeed, who are willing to offer suggestions, and whom you can learn from by watching their presentations. ive belonged to a couple different groups for the past 7 years and when i look in the rear view mirror, im amazed at how far ive come in my self confidence. its a great way to improve your public speaking abilities. you have untapped strengths once you get out of your own way. you obviously know your stuff, now dont let imagined limitations stop you from being your best you. hold up your head, know that you have every right to take up space, and go do what you do.

depending on your business, i have had great success by joining a BNI chapter and then visiting as many other chapters without a representative of my category as possible. i probably get 50% of my new business referrals from BNI members. (more) Ive been in the promotions industry for 17 years and my recommendation is always this... go for what makes you memorable. Anyone can go to a trade show and walk out with a bag of swag, and much of it goes straight to the circular file. I guide my clients to useful things that will keep their brand in their customers' hands for a longer time. Low price does not necessarily mean dull or cheap. Case in point.... I had a customer who was going to exhibit at a state fair and wanted giveaways to drive business to his booth (newspapers). His first choice was sunglasses. These average about .80. I suggested lip balm and he balked at it being common but i countered with mustard and ketchup flavored balm. Yes, it sounds disgusting and no, i wouldn't want to use it. BUT.... what says state fair like corn dogs with condiments? The line to the booth was ridiculous because word spread about this crazy lip balm and people wanted to get their hands on it. Huge success. And inexpensive. You want to create a buzz to get eyes on your product or brand. I can help with that.
