Provide value, consistency and quality in what you do. Not to sound insensitive, but just as every business must do. Race, gender, nationality or religion hold no place in business. Everyone must hold their own and succeed or fail on their merits. (more) Provide value, consistency and quality in what you do. Not to sound insensitive, but just as every business must do. My thoughts - If you are new to the industry or new as a consultant, perhaps your value and results are not particularly quantifiable, but you probably know what the market is for your services. Early on you might want to undercut Market until you have quantifiable Value and can show evidence of Results. As you get a better handle on Value and Results, you can move your fees closer to Market. If your results exceed the Market norms, or if you provide more in Value what your competition does, you reach above Market fees. That's just my humble opinion.

(more) it really depends on what sized company you are looking to reach. larger companies require finding your way through gatekeepers are if possible, belong to Vistage or other CEO groups where they may frequent. Small companies requires straight up relationship building through Linked in, network groups and chambers of commerce. One of the best ways is to be in a place where you get found. By becoming a subject matter expert through blogs and videos, and being part of the circle you want to reach, C types will find you as they inevitably do research online to help them manage and grow their businesses. I'm a CEO, and I don't accept cold calls, I don't answer unsolicited emails, I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number. You want to talk with me? Be where I am and do something that gets my attention, that makes me realize you hold value in what you do for my company.
