About Us

Our founder is Tammy Bragg, MBA. She is the Principal here at Booksmart Strategies. Tammy received her Bachelors and Master’s degrees from the University of Charleston, in Charleston, WV. While Tammy has 21 years experience in accounting, 16 of those years she was in various Controller, Corporate Controller, or CFO roles. After moving to the Nashville area in 2013, she began helping many businesses clean up their books, setup and implement accounting systems, build out desk procedures and processes for proper accounting, and helped build out effective accounting departments. Tammy added multiple business, marketing, money, and financial coaching certifications since 2018, and added a propriety profit acceleration software to the mix in 2021 to help her clients achieve greater profitability and long term business planning. Tammy also freelances for CPA's when needed.

How We Got Started

Tammy took her experience and became a freelancer then in early 2017 started to build the Booksmart Strategies firm. Then, she has partnered with other accountants and professionals to offer expanded services. Also, Tammy is part of the Paro network, that includes only the top 2% of bookkeepers. As we continue to grow, we hope you’ll be a part of our business, as much as we are a part of yours.

I've seen way too many business owners, friends, or spouses take on the role of "bookkeeper" who completely mess up the books. When it comes tax time and their CPA can't do their taxes, they panic and realize they created a mess because they didn't understand basic accounting. Posting checks and doing AP still requires understanding of what accounts to hit, and accepting payments is a little different depending on the accounting system you use. QuickBooks posts payments to undeposited funds and if you don't know how to clear it correctly, your revenue can actually double. Ask any accountant that does freelance work or work for clients and you'll hear multiple horror stories unfortunately.
