Founder, Gregg Renfrew, launched Beautycounter after she realized that the industry is highly unregulated and that the US has not passed a major law governing the industry since 1938, only 2 pages of legislation govern the industry and we as a country only ban 30 potentially harmful ingredients from personal care and cosmetics when the European Union bans 1400. She wanted to educate others on how potentially toxic the products they use on themselves and their families are, and also offer high-performing product solutions. To date we offer over 140 products and ban 1500 potentially harmful ingredients from every product in our line. We are completely transparent with our ingredient list and work with legislators in DC for more health protective laws. We are a B Corp (Benefit Corporation) pledging to put people and planet before profit and give back to the following prevention based organizations: EWG, Breast Cancer Prevention Fund, Health Child, Healthy World, and Stand Up 2 Cancer.
