As a graphic designer, I most often use Adobe Illustrator to create logos. Illustrator is vector which is ideal for scaling and clean lines. Printers usually use PDFs, which are easy to create in Illustrator. I do sometimes use Photoshop, if the logo is only going to be used digitally. Though,...

Though, I usually started with a sketch pad in both cases.
