FoHi Improv was founded by Kate DeFeo in 2019 with the mission to bring a spotlight to improving one's mental health and the benefit of forming a hyper local community using improvisational theater. DeFeo realizes that everyone deserves a chance to find a strong local community, laugh even when it’s difficult, and find catharsis in life’s difficult moments. While improv exists under the theater arts umbrella, DeFeo has worked hard to develop a Beginner Improv Curriculum that allows all participants to connect improv skills to their everyday lives through: memory skills, body language, interpersonal connection, focus skills, listening skills, the importance of eye contact, and speaking skills.

FoHi Improv LLC was born with the vision of bringing improvisational theater opportunities to Central Queens with a focus on hyper-local locations and community so that adults can make new friends, learn new skills together, laugh, connect and have fun, all while improving one’s mental health.

When you support classes at FoHi Improv, you are supporting teaching artists and performers from Queens who have been studying and teaching improv for many years, as well as supporting a truly local effort to bring interpersonal communication and connection to local Queens neighborhoods.
