There is a brutal, vile game of distraction played in our government and trumpeted by media. Distract from what is important to us, we the people... and shove nonsense down our throats. You can fill in the blanks here yourself, I'd rather not turn this into a rant. What we require is a level of transparency and honesty now more than ever in order for us all to focus on our goals and have any chance of achieving them. The roll of government as it was intended in this country was never to be a monarchy and we're unfortunately marching very quickly towards that right now.
ALL people having opportunity and hopefully achieving some wealth is better for everyone, a rising tide raises all boats right? Our government seems to be an adversary right now rather than a partner. We have people embedded who seemingly don't understand basic economics or our Constitution. One of the worst things I ever heard was a certain president refer to the Constitution as an outdated 200 year old piece of paper. That same piece of paper is what he swore to uphold isn't it? OK, so this is turning into a rant, I digress...

As a fully vaccinated person days away from getting my booster shot I did not expect to have to deal with this personally when I got infected. And when I tried to find out exactly how many days I was to quarantine it was unclear. Some said 5 days, others 10 after your initial positive test, unless you have symptoms. Others told me 10 days even if you still have symptoms, but as long as you don't have a fever. One doctor told a supplier of mine's daughter that she most likely had both Omicron and the seasonal flu as she had strep throat which is not a typical symptom with Covid. Then there is the testing positive on the PCR test after infection being normal, the effectiveness of the rapid home tests being unreliable, non existent mask guidance, and what I think is a very big problem, no way to self report. I would think that this information would be important to know? A short questionnaire (are you vaccinated, if not why? What vaccine did you take, do you now how you contracted it, have you been infected before etc...) would not only be valuable to give accurate numbers but maybe it could reveal whether certain vaccines are ineffective or how effective natural immunity is? In NY State, about 10 days ago, the claim was made that just over 21% of the state's population was infected. When I heard that report on the news it occurred to me that of the three infected people in my household alone none of us were included in that number. A friend of mine mentioned that he had spoke to 25 people and of the 25 16 were infected, and none were able to get near a clinic or doctor's office to get tested so they relied on the home test, and also had no way to self report. I know this has turned into a bit of a rant but I have one simple question, how are we as citizens to react when it appears as though our officials don't seem to really be interested in getting to the cold hard facts with this virus?
Back to how this has effected our business, it's been up and down. I have completely lost some very good customers and gained a few new ones during this time. I have had some very solid months and some bad ones. Our biggest problem is that the "new normal" does not work with our business model as we rely largely on face to face contact. We of course have adapted having more of an ecommerce presence and changing up our marketing efforts which used to involve door knocking. There is also the problem of rising crime and restrictive policies which has caused many local businesses to go under or move away. My guess is that the future for many business owners will remain uncertain until we as a nation have declared that Covid is over and the all clear is sounded.
Obviously we want to generate business through networking but the hard sell can be quite annoying. My feeling when I am on the receiving end of a hard sell is that this person could care less about what I do and how we can actually help each other is not even considered. I typically write these...

For us vaccinations are the most important thing at this point, specifically the effective distribution of them. We have received our second round of PPP and we are thankful for that but as the majority of our business is B2B if businesses aren't reopening we have no customers. We've been fortunate to find a niche in direct mail among some other things that we've been busy with, but financial relief is really nothing more than a bandaid. We won't give up and have every intention of succeeding but we really need to see our economy open back up sooner rather than later.
Our state and city need to step up and do a better job. Vaccines have been expiring while people (like my parents for example who are well into their 80s) sit and are told they are on a list. I've seen posters, Emmy awards issued, and even books written on the subject of leadership, published, printed and sold on the during this time while people lose their lives and livelihoods. Other states seemingly have a much better handle on this virus than our does, and statistics seem to support this, but we are constantly told otherwise. This is not a political statement, just an observation. I'll stop here as I would prefer to not turn this into a rant. I just hope we can all come together and be better people when it's over.
Hi Sheri, I will admit I am somewhat biased but finding a local Minuteman Press will be your best bet in my opinion. I also should mention that I was in the industry for 25 years and quite skeptical before purchasing my franchise but there is a reason it's been around for over 40 years now and...

MMP locations will provide you a variety of options, help you with a design and you'll have the option to pick up your cards (sometimes within the same day) or have them shipped to our location directly. Most locations also can help you with a wide range of items from a full range of stationary items, banners and signs, promotional items, direct mail and much more. At my location here in NY we've worked with everyone from an individual looking for a single banner to companies such as JetBlue and we treat them all with the same level of customer service, and I think that is what sets us apart from most small print shops.
We'll that's my elevator pitch, good luck and have a wonderful weekend!
I am grateful to still have a business, I know that unfortunately many do not. We've been fortunate that we have found a niche (or maybe it found us) where we've been able to help nonprofits with their fundraising efforts through the use of direct mail. I am of the belief that even here in New...

For us word of mouth marketing has always been key. We've heard many horror stories about experiences with businesses operating exclusively online, specifically when it comes to hard deadlines or last minute jobs. We strive to distinguish ourselves from online businesses by offering free local delivery, and in the case of our regular customers offering payment terms.
That being said word of mouth marketing has been challenging as of late. We continue to network on Zoom and offer contactless pickup and delivery to retain a sense of normalcy but the "new normal" (I hate this term) essentially would mean the end for a business model that thrives on personal contact. We do engage in social media marketing and have an eCommerce website for some items but as I write this our hope is to see things return to pre-Covid times ASAP.

I was fortunate enough to receive the PPP loan which we used for rent. In addition we have found that many of our clients have been paying their bills on time which is a little bit of a departure from the norm. My guess is that perhaps it has to do with PPP grants they have received.

I agree with what others have said in regards to landlords being in the same predicament and decided not to try and take advantage of the situation by withholding the rent as people I know have done. That being said I have been contemplating asking for a rent reduction but I haven't been able to figure out a way to broach that subject. Does anyone have any advice as to how we could approach the topic?

I will say that as an American however most of what I care about are things like private property ownership, opportunity and access to healthcare of my choosing at a reasonable price. Anything that infringes upon these things I would be opposed to.
