About Us

For music education, I like to break a challenge down to its sequential parts, which a lot of teachers do, because it allows us to see and fix specific things that are gumming up the works of the bigger picture.

What makes me unique is my background in improvisational playing through my comedy work with The Second City, the Story Pirates, and other comedic groups that have shown me that, while attention to detail is important, what is more important is GETTING OUT OF YOUR HEAD and HAVING FUN with what you're doing. A lesson with me might feel a bit dizzying, as I'm always trying to get you to relax and have fun while also showing you the specifics of how to improve your approach. For voice, we may go from talking about the shape of the vocal folds straight into a spinning dance and back to tongue placement. We may discuss elbow bend and bench position straight into conducting Dua Lipa songs. i am uniquely fun and engaging - not in that no other teacher is fun and engaging, but that the way I go about it, the ducking and weaving between hyper-focused specifics and silly goofy fun, is something I've found to be unique in relation to other respected educators.
