Stecco Method Fascial Manipulation
I specialize in Fascial Manipulation (FM), a technique developed by Dr Luigi Stecco in Italy over thirty years ago. There is no other soft tissue method with as much peer reviewed literature as FM. Dr Stecco has mapped out sequences of critical points in the deep fascia through cadaver dissection, which he calls centers of coordination (CCs) and centers of fusion (CFs). These points are found to mirror acupuncture meridians and directly affect posture, pain syndromes, joint biomechanics, and movement patterns.
Manipulation of CCs and CFs with deep pressure and friction is carried out manually by the practitioner using elbows, knuckles, and finger pads. The main goal is to reestablish proper glide between fascial layers and adjacent tissue such as muscle, tendon, ligament, skin, and bone. FM can also be used to balance and maintain proper tensional equilibrium between CCs and CFs to treat internal organ dysfunction thereby reestablishing homeostasis in the body.
