How We Got Started

After graduating from Columbia University with a degree in Art History, I directed contemporary art galleries in New York City during the 1980's. I opened Martha Henry, Inc. Fine Art, a fine art advisory business in 1987. Since then, I have focused on African American, American and Outsider Art while working as a curator and writer, advisor and appraiser for private collectors, museums, universities, artists and galleries. I became a Certified Member of the Appraisers Association of America in 2018, specializing in African American Art. I am currently in the process of becoming an accredited in Outsider Art.

Products & Services
USPAP qualified written appraisals of fine art for insurance, sales, bankruptcy, damage/loss, estate tax, and charitable donations.

I know someone who has made them for years. Only success he has had is through personal relationships with individuals and boutique type shops. I think he did a fair once but it didn't work out.
