About Us

I am a psychologist and an executive coach. I work with men and women from late adolescence through later life. My practice is based on the idea that sharpening our strengths and having adaptable coping strategies may reduce anxiety, increase confidence, and support.
Transitions can be particularly difficult: from school to work, from parental leave back to work and vice versa, changing marital status, becoming a parent, and preparing for retirement.

How We Got Started

I have been in practice for more than 30 years both as a career counselor and psychologist. I served on the Teachers College, Columbia University faculty as a professor and administrator. I work with individuals and couples at all life stages. As a coach, my experience at all workplace levels may be helpful.

just because we can't be outside doesn't mean we can't connect.  It is much easier for those who are introverted to cope with less contact than usual.  we need to be more patient with the extraverts in the family, who may be feeling restless, irritated, and anxious.  Patience, acceptance,... Encourage alternative connection methods (phone, internet, games, blogs, etc.  this will end, but we need to be thoughtful.  Connect with your therapist!  we know how to listen no matter what the communication medium.

I use the Psychology Today website, and because I am a couples therapist, I am a member of the Gottman network. (more) I use the Psychology Today website, and because I am a couples therapist, I am a member of the Gottman network.

use your instincts!   make sure the provider is willing to explain h/er reasoning for something unusual.  if a provider pushes a treatment or makes outrageous claims, there's something amiss. are you asking for a client's perspective, or from a treatment provider's point of view? (more) are you asking for a client's perspective, or from a treatment provider's point of view?

are you asking how many clients we see for anger management alone, or total number of clients seen per week? (more) are you asking how many clients we see for anger management alone, or total number of clients seen per week?

it probably varies.  Call the Counseling Center—not necessarily the health service.  Look on the college’s website for the link and phone number. (more) it probably varies.  Call the Counseling Center—not necessarily the health service.  Look on the college’s website for the link and phone number.
