Hello Colleagues:
My work as a speech-language pathologist spans over thirty years in a variety of settings ages from infants through geriatrics. The majority of my practice is with young children, ages zero through school age. Those currently may have signs or symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder, poor oral-motor functioning that affects the clarity of speech production and feeding skill. Some have complex neurological problems or genetic differences the symptoms of which affect communication, as well as feeding. Some parents have brought children to me with concern about literacy and academic skill development.
I have developed seminars and presented on topics such as the impact of technology and its use on more traditional forms of communication, when working as a Clinical Adjunct in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at Lehman College, Bronx, NY. Its impact is something that I try to discuss in a sensitive way when I am asked about this in relation to the impact upon communication acquisition.
Currently:
I am an approved provider and evaluator in the NYS Early Intervention that incorporates a family-centered therapy approach that involves those involved with the children in the home. Family members have expressed appreciation for me involving them in the process.
I offer the SPEAK OUT! therapy approach to those with Parkinson's Disease or related disorders
Private patient practice for those children who have aged out of the Eary Intervention program - school-aged population
Feeding therapy and evaluations with current training in SOS therapy https://sosapproachtofeeding.com/
Use of motor planning strategies in order to teach children motor placement for speech sound production using a tactile/kinesthetic approach.
SPEAK OUT! voice therapy offered to those with Parkinson's Disease and related disorders.

I always liked to write and today maintain a blog at www.robinslp.com. Barriers to entering the journalism field led me to use that skill in the area of working with those who have special needs in developing communication.
My interest in neurology and biochemical influence on language and cognitive development has drawn me into a more individualized work environment, tailoring treatment to the needs of the whole person in a multi-systematic manner. Those who know me have recently expressed that I am "passionate" about my work and "extremely dedicated". I believe that some of this come from personal experiences that have shaped me into the professional I am today.
