About Us

The Sunny Side: Acupuncture and Healing Arts is a minority woman-owned Chinese Medicine clinic located near Union Square in Manhattan in the peaceful lower-level of the Rutherford Medical building. It is our mission to provide affordable private acupuncture treatments in New York City. We are passionate about providing quality. Our goal is to create positive change in your health and to motivate you to want the same thing for yourself. Beyond Chinese Medicine, my goal is to create community amongst the many people that have influenced me to pursue this endeavor.

How We Got Started

Learning the theories and philosophies of Chinese Medicine (the broader name for what I do) made so much sense to me that I wondered why more people didn’t know about this type of healing. During my first visit with an acupuncturist, I told them, “I have a lot of decisions to make, and I am having trouble making them. My mind feels cloudy and overwhelmed with the thought of so many decisions to make.” They said that they could help (What?!) I made so many decisions after that treatment and felt so clear, I felt like Superwoman! It was truly amazing!

Through weekly treatments, acupuncture and herbal medicine have helped to alleviate my severe menstrual pain. My life is no longer interrupted by excruciating cramps, low-back pain, and fainting on a monthly basis, which resulted in me missing school and work. It allowed me to make the choice to get off the birth control pill. I have healed my own sprained ankles and those of others many times as well as plantar fasciitis.

I have employed my friends with small businesses (all minority-business owners); a fashion designer, musician/arranger, and makeup artist. I got a job doing my healing work to supplement my business income and renegotiated how I pay for my space. If my landlord didn't agree I would have paused my in person services. I am blessed this wasn't the case. I have also been giving virtual wellness guiding and virtual tap dance lessons and in person private lessons when I can. Creative solutions are needed. I share what knowledge I can and focus on what I want. Please respond if I can help in any way.

Thank you for sharing this information as it is very helpful as I continue to move forward. Another concern I have is the amount I should ask or does the SBA tell you how much you qualify for? They should definitely extend. Some people haven't even got any of their UI or PUA yet.  (more) They should definitely extend. Some people haven't even got any of their UI or PUA yet.

Communicate with the new people you meet and keep in touch with old contacts. If you say you want to contact or get to know someone, then do that. Learn more about the people and the things that they do and what moves them to do it.  (more) Communicate with the new people you meet and keep in touch with old contacts. I am doing my best to stay centered. Practicing gratefulness and a positive mindset to stay strong through everything is going on. Making sure I am healthy so that I can help others without exhausting myself. I am getting organized and strategizing about what I can do next and how I want to do... I know for myself, I am still not completely comfortable in going out. Still digesting all that is going on and focused on making better decisions. Thank you for this post.

In my experience, I have found that persons in pain are so distracted by the pain that they not doing any mental or spiritual work on their own (i.e. meditation, positive mindset work, visualization and emotionalization work). Even though people want to feel better, I have to continuously explain the value of doing their part at home. The physical is definitely important in healing as well. The mental informs the physical and vice versa.
