It all began when my next door neighbor recommended me to her boss - who was the comptroller at the NY Historical Society. They needed someone to handle the redesign and upgrades to their staff offices, and design a "temporary" (4 years long!) relocation of their museum store while a big name architect renovated most of their main display galleries.
I had not done "real life" design - I was a theater designer! I discovered that space and people are the same whether onstage on in real life - and that my approach to design ingenuity translated well across the footlights into the real world!
I went on, between theater design gigs, to help a few theater designer friends with aspects of their apartments - receiving much acclaim and appreciation!
I loved making a difference that people experienced and appreciated every day!
I made the decision to return to school and study architecture - went to Pratt Institute where I was fascinated with the scope of work and made great friends!
