Hi! I’m Sonia Basuroy, and I am the founder of The Functional Fitness Lab.

I started my own strength journey in my early 50s simply because my body and mind were tired, and I knew something had to change. I didn’t join a fancy club; instead, I built a small, simple workout space in my garage. With just the basic tools and a commitment to showing up for myself, I watched my physical strength and daily energy return.

Life at any age brings heavy challenges that show up in our thoughts, our emotions, and eventually, our physical bodies. I know this firsthand. Through my own journey, my personal caregiving experiences, and my training as a certified personal trainer, I have seen how easily we can lose our footing as we age. I have watched how a loss of strength, balance, and muscle can slowly chip away at our freedom, our confidence, and our independence.

But I have also seen how quickly we can reclaim it.

My mission is to show as many women as possible, at any age or starting point, that it is never too late to rebuild. You do not need to navigate this transition alone, and you do not need a crowded, intimidating gym to do it. Together, we will build a gentle, consistent roadmap to help you feel strong, move without fear, and protect the vibrant, independent life you deserve to live.
